Specific Information:

This auditioned a cappella chorus is designed for the advanced choral students in grades 7 and 8 who desires more challenging repertoire and further vocal training of the highest level, a cappella. This type of choral music demands that the vocalist have control of pitch and intonation at all times, because a cappella means singing without instrumental accompaniment for support of pitch. Messa Di Voce performs in local festivals, concerts, fund-raisers, and will compete in the Music in the Parks Festival, Dorney Park. There is a fee for a tux shirt, and a fee for Music in the Parks Festival, transportation fee, and the school district Pay-to-Play fee.

HISTORY and HONORS of MESSA DI VOCE:
Messa Di Voce
is the advanced choir at Richard E. Strayer Middle School in the Quakertown Community School District under the direction of Cynthia Teprovich. It is comprised of students from grade levels seven and eight. All of the Messa Di Vocemembers belong to the school's grade-level concert choruses that rehearse during the school day learning to read and perform vocal music while achieving proficiency in the learning targets. The growth and development of these young vocalists are assessed for vocal achievement and musicianship for all learning targets. This chorus is offered to students who have developed a well-placed voice with an advanced level of pitch, intonation, and note reading. This is an auditioned chorus that rehearses before the school day begins, twice per week January through May as well as small group sectional rehearsals. Messa Di Voce performs primarily a cappella repertoire of various styles.
