Reading Olympics

Advisor: Mrs. Wignovich (

The Reading Olympics competition is a county-wide program, having teams of students read 45 books from a prepared list several months prior to the final event. Each team consists of 12 to 16 members who meet afterschool in the library once/week and who read and discuss the books. Students will practice mock competitions at their school, asking and answering questions about the books. In April, the competition is held at an accommodating school, which includes many other middle school teams from Upper Bucks County. The Bucks County IU #22 sets up which teams compete and in what room locations. During the competition evening, all teams participate in 3 rounds of questions. No team is eliminated; however, each team receives a ribbon, determined by the number of points their team earned during the evening.
Participating team members design and purchase a team t-shirt, as well as, contribute toward the cost of a dinner on the night of the competition. Combined costs are approximately $15.00.
