English (Grade 7)
Language arts focuses on strengthening students' communication and comprehension skills in the areas of writing, grammar, literature, vocabulary, and public speaking. Through the use of the writing process, students will concentrate on the major forms of discourse in their own writing. Units on sentence structure, punctuation, and general grammar usage will supplement their practice through the use of various forms of literature, including independent reading assignments and literature circles. Students will improve their comprehension and analytical/critical thinking skills, while learning to communicate their opinions effectively for various written and oral assignments.
